I still feel how safe is Cyprus and how unusual it is for the Middle East and Russia. I spoke to some friends of mine in Russia and they were not impressed with the news of an explosion on a military base.
“It happens every half a year in Russia, nobody notices that any more.”
Cypriot authorities were so careless to put 98 containers of explosives just right before the electric power plant.
But it life, something has changed. I see many helpful people really caring of me and my small troubles. yesterday as I went to Nicosia, I saw many traffic lights of and police regulating traffic in the 40C heat in shade.
Cyprus Mall turned off the AC system and opened all doors. Its was unbearably hot even for me.
In Limassol, on the contrary, all hotels have electricity and air conditioning, all traffic light are back. Shops are working and everything looks pretty normal.
Residential houses are cut of the electricity for a few hours during the day. People on the forum helped me to find the schedule on the site of Electricity transporting company.
So yesterday I went to Starbucks to spend this off time. There were pretty many other people busy and lay, to spend their time with their laptops or with children in the cool area.

People are mourning dead and asking questions. They gather on the Elefterias Square and demand the President to step down. People want high officials to be charged with criminal charges and reimburse damages.
I went to see my friends’ mobile house in Governor’s Beach. It damaged so severely that I don’t see it repaired. Many mobile houses there were damaged even more. There were a lot of pieces of munitions all over the place.
On the first day, just right after the tragedy, civil defense officers came to businesses around and collected statements from the owners. On the second day they came to check these mobile houses and inspected each one. I do admire how fast these people work and how responsive they are. But people left with their questions so far. Who and how much will reimburse their damages.
Also who will build another power plant and how fast it can be done?
I really wonder how the situation goes on. It is an interesting point in modern history of Cyprus.
